Fishermen are fishing in the Akkelpur flood waters
The rivers, canals, beels and crop fields of Akkelpur in Joypurhat are overflowing with water. Wherever the eye goes, there is only water and water. In recent times, every field has been inundated by heavy rains and downpours.

In these canals and beels, the fishermen of the area are now engaged in fishing. They are fishing day and night in different ways with different bridges, culverts, and in the mouths of the listeners. And their family is running comfortably by selling this fish.
It is known that there are many fishing families in Akkelpur upazila.

Those who hunt fish bear the expenses of their families. As the canals and beels dried up during the dry season, the families of these fishermen became frustrated. They cannot fish for several months of the year due to lack of water in the river channels. As a result, they have to devote themselves to other occupations to support their families.

However, this time they are able to catch more fish as the river Nala Khal Beel is flooded in advance and floods are everywhere. Especially fishing with a net is like catching the eye everywhere. In places where people have never seen Kharajal, Kharajjal has also been installed this time.
Jalil, a fisherman from Basantapur village in Hasta upazila, said he did not have to go far this time as the flood waters were high. I can catch fish near home. The fish is selling what is happening and meeting the expenses of the family well.
Mahidul Islam, senior fisheries officer of the upazila, said that heavy rains and downpours were causing heavy rains in every field of the upazila. And in this water, the fishermen are fishing. We are continuing our monitoring in every area so that the fishermen cannot catch pollen fry.
Upazila Sachetan Mahal thinks that even though the fishermen are fishing in the monsoon season, they are supporting their families. However, they need to be assisted in the dry season.
